Design of primary over-pressure protection equipment must be sufficient to prevent tank pressure or vacuum from exceeding this value except in an emergency or upset.

Minimum connection size is 4 in. unless denoted otherwise in Table 1.

Recommended minimum size for a tank with a normal operating pressure of 10 oz/in.2. Nozzle sizing is based on the failure of an upstream control valve, flowing 180,000 to 200,000 scfh of gas flow. The purchaser should review vent size based on actual expected operating conditions. It is permissible to increase the connection size for higher flow rates.

The first course (or bottom shell course) shall be a minimum of ¼-in. nominal thickness to enhance bottom-to-shell joint strength. The remainder of the shell course may be reduced to 3/16-in. nominal thickness.
